Full-day Training on January 17, 2015 Welcomes All Utah Women

Real Women Run warmly invites Utah women to attend a full-day of education and training on Saturday, January 17, 2015 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Miller Campus of Salt Lake Community College.

This interesting, informative day will feature Real Women Run’s keynote speaker, numerous panels, an “ask an expert” luncheon, and several breakout sessions for women of all ages to learn about the following:

  • What women bring to political life and leadership
  • Why women should consider running for elected office
  • How to volunteer or run a campaign
  • What a campaign means for women’s families
  • How women’s faith connect with political life
  • What opportunities exist for entering local politics in 2015
  • How to gain access for service on boards and commissions

Whether you’ve never considered running for office or you are ready to run, Real Women Run has designed an inspiring, educational day for you. The training is also a great opportunity to forge friendships with other women of all political parties and persuasions who are interested in the political process, public service, and civic engagement.

The day will feature keynote speech by Dr. Susan Madsen, Orin R. Woodbury Professor of Leadership and Ethics in the Woodbury School of Business at the Utah Valley University and founder of the Utah Women & Leadership Project. Dr. Madsen will talk about “Utah Women in Politics: Status, Challenges, and Opportunities.”

Other training sessions feature a panel of five female mayors from across Utah and breakout sessions on campaign basics, the impact of campaigns and public service on families, women and faith, issue-based advocacy, and service on boards and commissions. Current and former elected officials and other experts will share their perspectives and experiences over lunch.
